Coloring books for kids are an excellent way to develop fine motor skills, sustained focus, and self-regulation that will be good for them for the rest of their lives.
When I was young, all you needed to do to keep me busy for hours was to give me a brand-new coloring book and a new box of crayons. Years later (many years later), I discovered I have ADHD. Coloring was peaceful and helped me develop my fine motor skills and focus. The proof is in the pudding – I’m a best-selling author and award-winning speaker.
Coloring books for kids are an excellent way to develop skills that will be good for them for the rest of their lives. The act of kids coloring in a book increases their fine motor skills.
Choosing which color to use on the coloring page helps with decision-making. And the act of coloring requires a level of focus that helps their minds continue to tap into long-term focus, which will benefit them in their studies.

Unicorn coloring book and let your child choose which coloring page to start coloring. Each coloring page is paired with a positive affirmation.

Crayons Rule in Kids Coloring Books
Of course, crayons are a must. Crayola has soooooooo many different boxes of crayons. I invested in the 100-Crayons Box, Glitter Crayons, Neon Crayons, and the 64 Pack that has the sharpener, but my favorite is the Pearl Crayons.
Of these, only the 64-pack with the sharpener was around when I was a kid, but we couldn’t afford it.
HOWEVER – that is the great thing about being an adult – you get to buy whatever you want with your money! I bought crayons, colored pencils, gel pens, and alcohol markers!
Unicorn Coloring Pages
While the coloring pages are designed for kids, I can personally attest to the fun time I spent coloring side-by-side with my niece.
There are over 25 unicorn coloring pages in I am Bold: Unicorn Coloring Book for Kids. My favorites are the cute kawaii unicorn coloring pages, the unicorn princess coloring pages, and the rainbow cute unicorn coloring pages.
Finished Coloring Pages
Be sure when your child is done coloring the coloring page, and they bring it to you proud of their work that you display it so that they can see that you appreciate their work.
If you’re worried about your refrigerator being unrecognizable because of the layers and layers of coloring pages, don’t worry.
Just like when you are buying new things and you are trying to reduce the clutter in your home, have the rule that if a new coloring page goes up, an old coloring page has to come down.
The previously displayed coloring page can go into their “portfolio” like a professional artist or they can recycle it.
Another thing they will be able to do is to take their coloring pages to a retirement home for the residents to enjoy their artwork. (Be sure to call first.)
Benefits of Coloring Books
Kids’ coloring books are nothing new, but in today’s world of constant distraction and short attention spans, it is crucial that children develop the ability to focus long-term on a project and not be distracted.

Body Doubling and Coloring Books for Kids
If your child has ADD or ADHD, this side-by-side work will help them focus. Side-by-side work is also referred to as body doubling and can help reduce frustration and create an incentive to complete tasks.
For a person with ADHD, body doubling helps them feel less alone as well as helps them feel calmer and less frustrated.
Coloring books for kids are a very inexpensive way to connect with your kids and help them create a solid foundation of skills for their future.
